Creating MP3 CDs

When you burn a CD with iTunes, the songs are converted to standard audio files. The CD works with most portable, home, and automobile CD players. If you want to create a CD with songs in MP3 format, use the Finder, instead of iTunes, to create the disk.

Make sure you're in the Finder, insert a blank CD, then choose MP3 CD format in the disc preparation dialog. Do not choose the iTunes format.

When the disc appears on your desktop, drag your MP3 files from the iTunes window to the CD icon. If you want to organize your songs in folders, use the Finder to create folders on the CD.

When you're ready to burn the disc, click once on the disc icon to select it, then choose Burn CD from the Finder's File menu.

For help with creating CDs in the Finder, see Mac Help, available in the Finder's Help menu. If you have trouble using the disc with your player, check the player's documentation to see what CD formats and file organization it supports.
